How Femi Kuti disappointed Osinbajo at Fela’s shrine, tells VP ”I won’t support you”

Nigerian musician, Olufela Olufemi Anikulapo Kuti, popularly known as Femi Kuti has said that he will not support President Muhammadu Buhari in the 2019 presidential election.

The music star, who recently headlined the annual Felabration event at the popular shrine in Lagos, openly stated that he won’t support the Buhari-led government because of his father, Fela Anikulapo Kuti.
Kuti revealed this to the crowd in the presence of the Vice President of Nigeria, Yemi Osinbajo.
He said, “When I went to his (Osinbajo’s) house, he asked me to support him and he is here now and I am saying no. I won’t support him because of my father.
“But he is my friend, he said he understands and respects my view.
“He said he has been hearing about the shrine and wants to come and I’m very happy he came.
"When he got here he didn’t know the place was like this and he has seen that we are not mad people.”
The musician also noted that the Vice President didn’t bribe the Kuti family to support their second term agenda, adding that the New Afrika Shrine is open to anyone.
Speaking, the Vice President said, “The country will be great no matter what happens.
“Everybody will be great and our country will be greater.”

Cardi B and Offset aren't sharing photos of their baby girl with the world right now.
The "I Like It" rapper and the Migos star welcomed their first child, a daughter named Kulture Kiari Cephus, back in July. Since that time, the couple has only shared glimpses of Kulture on social media, deciding instead to keep her out of the public eye after receiving numerous threats online.
"I could show you screenshots of comments, and my phone number got leaked. I got so many disgusting text messages that I literally I had to hire a private investigator to find out who the f--k is these people threatening my child," Cardi told Ebro Darden on his Beats 1 show on Apple Music. "It's just really disgusting, disturbing things...we just don't want to show our baby right now."

"I got offered seven figures [to show Kulture], I'm just not ready yet," Cardi shared. "I'm not even ready yet to have a damn babysitter."
Earlier this month, Cardi opened up about motherhood in an interview for Wmagazine's Art Issue.
"My baby. That's all I give a f--k about right now," she told the outlet. "I'm thinking about how my money's going to last so this girl is 21 and put in college. I'm thinking about investments. I'm thinking about five years from now and about the craziest s--t like, How am I going to discipline this girl?"
Cardi also talked to the magazine about her pregnancy and how she was "freaking out" when she first found out she was expecting.
"When I got pregnant, I was f--king freaking out," Cardi said. "Everybody around me was like, 'No, this never happened before. Every artist that had a baby, they already put in years in the game. This is your first year. You're going to mess it up. How are you going to make it?' While I was pregnant, I kept telling myself, I can't wait till I'm back out there. I'm going to look hot, and I'm going to be that bitch."

Bittersweet Wedding: Chris Oyakhilome’s Ex-Wife, Anita Absent at Daughter’s Wedding

While tragedy booms at deafening decibels, cluttering Pastor Chris Oyakhilome’s household with sniveling and sobs, joy blares a steady tune, drowning out the melody of pain. Finally, the flamboyant man of God is enjoying a reprieve of some sort from the grating agony of his failed marriage to Anita. As he endures the heartache of his calamitous marriage, glad tidings pervade his home as his daughter, Carrissa Sharon married her lover, Phillip Frimpong, the Netherlands-born Ghanaian, last weekend. It was a classy and well-attended party. But the bride’s mother was conspicuously absent!
You couldn’t have forgotten so soon how her marriage to Pastor Chris crashed and was well celebrated in the media. Few years ago, in 2014 to be precise, the traditional and new media portals ran amok with news of the celebrity couple and pastors marital crisis. Anita filed for divorce at Central Family Court, High Holborn, London, UK, citing her husband’s “unreasonable behaviour” and inappropriate relationships with members of staff, an intonation of “adultery.”
Miracles were unable to save her marriage from the ravages of betrayal and an unfair world. Like a sea-worn vessel crashing against the trunk of an iceberg, Pastor Anita’s marriage to Oyakhilome, steadily disintegrated to her dismay and to the consternation of church members. But through her sadness, Anita has seen a rare opportunity, a second chance to make her personal and romantic life more worthwhile.

Congratulations to you too again, Mr & Mrs Frimpong.

Mass grave containing 800 dead German soldiers discovered in Russia (Photo)

A mass grave containing the remains of 800 German soldiers killed in World War II has been unearthed during building work in the south-western Russian city of Volgograd, the German War Graves Commission said on Friday.

The discovery in the once fiercely-contested city, previously known as Stalingrad, was made while water pipes were being laid, the commission said.

Full excavation will be problematic because part of the grave is located beneath a housing development, it added. The victory of Soviet troops at the Battle of Stalingrad is considered a major turning point in the war. In the winter of 1942/43, it is estimated that some 700,000 soldiers and civilians died on both sides.

Some historians believe more than one million people died during the battle, with many of them freezing to death in below-zero temperatures. Many are still officially missing. The bones from the mass grave are believed to have belonged to soldiers, who died in the winter months of 1942/43, according to the association.

The men were buried hastily in a grave that also contained animals to contain the spread of disease. The association has been working with Russian authorities in the area for some 25 years.  If remains are clearly identified with the help of identifying features and historical documents, family members are contacted.

The remains are then reburied in official military cemeteries such as Rossoshka, about 40 kilometres outside Volgograd. If identified, the newly discovered remains will also be brought there.

Shooting recorded in Rivers PDP Reps primary

THERE were sporadic shootings in Okehi, the headquarters of Etche Local Government Area of Rivers State, where the Peoples Democratic Party was holding one of the House of Representatives’ primaries.
Our correspondent gathered that a group of persons suspected to be political thugs had gained entry into the venue of the exercise and later engaged one another in a hot argument.
A source from the area, who identified himself as Benson, explained that some members of the party had allegedly come with some thugs to the venue.
The source disclosed that some of the thugs tied objects suspected to be charms during the shooting, which was ostensibly targeted at scaring people away.
It was gathered that the shooting, which lasted for about 15 minutes, caused confusion during the primary, where the incumbent member of the House of Representatives, Jerome Eke, was to slug it out with another PDP chieftain, Ephraim Uzi.
“The incident happened at the council secretariat in Okehi, the venue of Etche PDP House of Representatives’ primary. The incident started at about 6 pm; some members of the party were said to have come in with thugs.”

2019: Ambode’s lonely voice in the wilderness

There can’t be a better time to know the atrocities Nigerian politicians have committed against the people than when they quarrel. Hidden skeletons are excavated. Accusations and counter-accusations fly in all directions. Of course, all of these don’t happen because they love the masses. Far from it. It is all about interest. But, is that not what the struggle for power all about?
Nothing succinctly captures the philosophy and how the mind of the average Nigerian politician works better than the drama playing out in Lagos - the commercial capital of Nigeria. The seat of power in Alausa will be up grabs in a matter of months. Expectedly, alignments and realignments have begun. Horse trading, betrayals, intrigues and all the elements that make the game of politics interesting are not missing.
Until recently, a great number of Nigerians had believed Gov. Ambode of Lagos would have a smooth second term journey. To them, his huge investment in infrastructure is enough to recommend him for a second term.Whether the cost attached to various projects across the state is an evidence of prudence in public spending by the government is another matter entirely ,especially when the debt of the state dwarfs those of other states. But that’s by the way.
Ambode is fighting the fiercest battle of his political career. His godfather, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, has refused to endorse him for a second term. He is not also in the good books of his party men who have shown him his ‘successor’ , even before the governorship election. He is also believed to be unpopular among Lagos civil servants.
The Lagos number one man will not go down without a fight.H e started what many have tagged a “season film”, leaving ears to itching for more . On September 30, Ambode announced to the world that his godfather’s candidate ,Mr Jide Sanwo-Olu, was once arrested and detained in the US for spending fake dollars, adding that he once went for rehabilitation in a hospital in Lagos!
Hear him, “ The aspirant that has been put up to contest against us is not a fit and proper person to take this job. This particular aspirant is somebody that has been arrested for spending fake dollars in a night club in America, and was detained for months. It is also known that he doesn’t have the competence to do what he is propelled to do. This is somebody that has gone for rehabilitation before. The records are there at Gbagada General hospital.’’
